Beskrivelse

The ancestry of Alice de Plumpton included knights, nobles, kings, queens, emperors, crusaders, Magna Charta Surety Barons, religious and military leaders, and other prominent historical figures. Alice de Plumpton was a relatively obscure member of a well-known aristocratic family in Yorkshire, England. She was born about 1335, the daughter of William de Plumpton and his wife Christiana de Mowbray. Her father held important positions including that of High Sheriff of Yorkshire, and he was knighted in 1340. Alice de Plumpton became the wife of Richard de Sherburne in 1352, and later, after being widowed, she became the wife of John le Boteler. Each of the chapters in this book, The Famous Ancestors of Alice de Plumpton, depicts a very famous and influential person of history: Robert de Ros (Magna Charta Surety Baron), William Marshal (the greatest knight in all of history and the Protector of England), David I (King of Scotland), William I of England (William the Conqueror), Rollo the Viking (the first leader of the Normans), King Alfred the Great (the maker of England), Charlemagne (the Emperor of the West), Charles Martel (the warrior who saved western civilization), Joseph of Arimathea (the great-uncle of Jesus), and King David of Israel (the originator of the prestigious Davidic Bloodline and a favorite of God and human rulers alike). One thing these great men had in common was that they were all direct ancestors of Alice de Plumpton. Each of the first eight chapters of this book will include a chart showing the direct descent of Alice de Plumpton from the subject of the chapter. In addition, there are six full page Genealogical Charts that immediately follow Chapter 10. Those six Genealogical Charts relate to the material presented in Chapters 9 and 10.
