Can wolves change colour? Do pixies exist?

According to Mr. Hedges they do.

Woods are magical places. However, there is one more magical than any other. Nearby, in a wild garden, a little wolf bravely hides two naughty pixies, Moonbeam and Lilybell, from Rob the Burglar. Mr. Hedges takes matters into his own hands when the little wolf attacks the burglar, with devastating results.

But they need help from Ethelweard the wizard. They must all beware of the wolves, who love nothing more than eating pixies in a snap-bite second
