The Enigmatic Door

He has a dilemma and as dilemmas go, his is a big one.

Joseph Crane is making a new law-abiding life in a small town in 1880's Wyoming. Successful business, wife, baby on the way. A daughter, he hopes.

Then two former colleagues pay him a visit in the middle of the night and his former criminal past, invades his new world. They're accused of murder, they say. For men already wanted, to many this would seem an occupational hazard, but they're innocent and they need Joseph's help to prove it.

This is the last thing Joseph needs right now. Just as life is looking so good.

If he goes to Angelworth to find out more, he risks recognition and capture himself. After all, he is Florian Fooks, former leader of the Guardian Wall Gang. But how can he leave when his wife needs him?

Yet if he doesn't go, then chances are his former colleagues will hang before reaching trial. Does he want that on his conscience? Knowing he could help but didn't.

Despite the risks to himself, Joseph's curiosity and a sense of justice (unusual for an outlaw) prevail. Soon he is riding out. But is he riding into danger?
