The target of bullies at school, Arista McGregor struggles to fit in. Her mother, Amanda, doesn't exactly help. Still mourning her divorce to Arista's father several years before, Amanda has taken to drinking and gambling, leaving Arista to fend for herself. With no friends and no support at home, she begins to question her existence and reason for being.
