Beskrivelse
From 1975 to 2014, Les Ellis worked in the oil industry on six continents. Starting as a roustabout on a North Sea rig, he worked his way up to operations manager in the Far East for an American international oil service company. This book contains forty years of true stories from his life: hair-raising experiences including riots in Nigeria, a machete attack by a drugged-up employee in Brunei, near fatal car crashes involving camels and drunk locals, an unjustified arrest for spying, and the time Les was held hostage for firing an employee. But not all his life in the oil industry was chaotic; there was fine dining and five-star hotels, flights to exotic places, and meeting wonderful people as well. And there was a big secret Les hid for over 40 years - that someone would find out he was dyslexic and make it public knowledge, shaming him for not being able to read and write under pressure and destroying any chance he had of progressing up the corporate ladder.
