In this dream, he experiences great ups and downs, from wealth and glory to downfall and dismissal. Upon waking up from his drunken stupor, he finds that everything he saw in his dream remarkably resembles the scene inside an anthill under a locust tree. This story, with its bizarre twists and turns, is well-known in the history of Chinese literature. It was later adapted into a play, and the idiom "Nanke's Dream" originated from this story.
