It popularized canonist learning on the nature and object of law, the religious and moral standards of law, the foundations of the common law and issues regarding the jurisdiction of Parliament. A very important work in the development of equity, Doctor and Student appeared in numerous editions. CHRISTOPHER SAINT GERMAIN c.1460-1540] was a legal writer and controversialist who wrote on a variety of topics. Also a notable bibliophile, his library exceeded that of any other lawyer of his time.
