Albert Réville (1826 - 1906) was a prominent French Protestant theologian famous for holding liberal views labelled 'extremist' at the time. He wrote extensively on the history of world religions and was famously a proponent of David Strauss' theory that the resurrection of Jesus Christ was in fact a vision caused by a nervous disorder and mass hysteria.
