Beskrivelse

The bionic athlete is in the starting blocks and ready for his sprint into the near future. This book is about how sport is changing - for the good or for the bad: depending on how one perceives the game. Science had made changes for all sports. The football helmet is a battering ram, boxing gloves are also now lethal punches, golf courses are becoming obsolete with the increase in ball flight distance from better balls and clubs, the increase in the sweet spot in racket sports, and other game changing equipment. The body has also improved not so much with training but with steroids and drugs, computer chips implanted into the body, artificial limbs that are better than the original limb, heart, lungs and blood flow improvement for more energy and efficiency. With medical advancements rapidly progressing the modern athlete may be robotic, or bionic. The old TV series of "The Six Million Dollar Man" is in the starting blocks and ready to run forward. Dr. Gerald A. Walford earned his Ph.D. from the University of Maryland. He has written many books on sport sciences, skill learning and teaching. His doctoral studies was on psychology and the use and understanding of humor. Dr. Walford has coached university hockey and golf and is a member of the Professional Golfers' Association of America (PGA).
