Beskrivelse
In the midst of a storm, a homeless woman named Susan searches for shelter in the Holy City of Charleston, South Carolina, to give birth to her first-born baby. It is a baby that she claims to be the actual birth child of God. Through the rain and the brutal wind, lightning strikes repeatedly, marking a path to the sanctuary of a church. She is both relieved and terrified as she lowers her head and trudges toward a place she hopes will be safe for her child. Susan has fallen prey to many things and has been addicted to drugs. After the birth of her daughter, the nurse who attempts to help her believes she is hallucinating and that the story about the "daughter of God" is an elaborate scenario that took place only in her mind. The young mother's "truth" becomes an obsession until she falls ill and is separated from her child. In the years that follow, the little girl, Gracen, appears to be blessed-or cursed-with stigmata and the ability to heal. She travels to Rome on a quest to determine her identity. Throughout the world, religion is a shared concept, but beliefs and practices vary greatly among cultures. In today's society, if a woman were to give birth to a baby and claim it to be the child of God, what would you believe? What miracles would you have to witness? Who else would have to stand up and say, "I believe," for the story to be plausible in your mind? Follow Gracen on her journey and discover if she is indeed the Daughter of God.
