A blend of fact and fiction, THE DARK SIDE OF THE TRAIL follows the lives of an ambitious frontiersman and his remarkable wife as they move farther west during the settlement of America. Frontiersman David Riffle and his wife, a survivor of an Indian massacre in the Tygart Valley on the frontier of Virginia, follow the westward movement and encounter severe difficulties. The family settled Ohio before statehood, and Riffle participated in the major conflicts with Native Americans before Ohio became a state.
