Leslie Anne Brennemann wrote a book about her mother Loretta Lynn (One Hour Aboard the Elissa), and in doing so learned about her biological mother Dory who did not get high marks as a human being. A deeper investigation reveals the truth about how Leslie came to be adopted in Hyannis Nebraska, how her Moms met each other and how their lives became entangled forever.

The voyage of the Elissa, doomed before it disembarked, was already under intense scrutiny by a secret U.S. agency. My Uncle Branford was a part of that U.S. Agency and they began their work over a year before the ship itself was even completed. The investigation did not end with the demise of the ship. After rescue operations were underway, Dory Azod, Loretta Lynn Brennemann and Jesop Beaman were all listed as dead when they miraculously showed up at Transfer Station. This is the story that lead to an international incident, and the attempted murder of the three of them. It is also how their lives became forever interwoven and my future was written in chaos, just like I always thought.
