The Curious Solitude of Anise

Anise wasn't always homeless. She was once a girl with drive, with a best friend, George, and with a father who mourned. Left alone, Anise searches for her own potential but finds her passion--and maybe her dead mother--in the pages of a cookbook. Anise's passion takes her to cooking school, to Hoboken, and to Manhattan, but the further into the world she goes, the further into herself she falls. During her last attempt at happiness, homeless vets enter Anise's baking cocoon and turn her tables upside down, rocking her hedgehogian existence and propelling her into the last chance of her life to redeem what she has lost.
