John and Katie Mears are searching for a new beginning, and with the purchase of their dream home in colonial Connecticut, they think they've found it. A place to raise their first child and build a life as a family, they turn their backs on New York to start anew. But the birthplace of the American nation has a haunting past, and they find themselves bound by a dark history, one of genocide, a spectre of the country's painful birth in the blood of pilgrim times.
