Cole Clay, an alcoholic with a menial sales job, has his life turned upside down when an emergency message warns all the residents of Nod to stay inside, and he realizes that the sun hasn't risen.
As he tries to uncover the truth he commits a series of crimes and finds himself staring down the barrel of Amelia Clark's pistol. Cole and Amelia soon discover that their lives have been intertwined prior to their meeting, in ways that they could never have imagined - involving people they could never forget.
