An Orc without his pod is nothing. Garrett Weaver thought he had discovered his place in the underwater Salt world. Stripped from his family and his friends, Garrett volunteered to join the Painted Guard in the hopes he might fight against the injustices he witnessed after being dragged into the realm beneath the waves. To join the Orcinian elite, Garrett must prove himself worthy first . . . and his fellow soldiers are not so welcoming to an outsider in their ranks. They also don't share Garrett's sympathies for Selkie slaves and those beneath their station. When a training exercise goes wrong, Garrett suspects there is more than playful hazing directed his way . . . and the order to target him might have come from the top of their command chain.
