Beskrivelse
The Colonial Chronicles is an epic multi-series set of American historical novels offering a panorama of characters and events of the Colonial Period chronicling the establishment of the Thirteen Original Colonies. Across a century and a half, the series opens with the loss of the Roanoke Colony, and concludes after the establishment of Georgia in 1732. Part Two begins in 1618 as Catholic and Protestant forces set strategic sights on European power at the start of the Thirty Years War. The Mayflower sails, establishing Plymouth Colony in 1620, and English colonization in North America grows, while Puritan political power in the English Parliament strengthens. Also, royal authority in England initiates renewed attacks on religious practices outside the Anglican Church under King Charles I, leading to increased Puritan emigration. The Plascomb Family widens its hold on Virginia land and tobacco markets after the first Indian War in 1622, and Plymouth Colony fails to recognize its brutal treatment of others beyond their wall who think differently than themselves in 1628. Diverse characters drive the narrative by folding into, blending with, and actively participating in the events, decisions, and actions resulting in each new colony's beginning, as well as larger world events, including global travel and meeting historically iconic people, finding that no history occurs in a vacuum because all societies are dynamic.
