Beskrivelse
Heroic army colonel Dominic Corley, lost his memory after a traumatic captivity when he stopped ethnic killing while on UN duty in Kosovo. Now on sick-leave and living alone, he has a problem. He doesn't agree he is that person. Despite everyone - 'the Onslaught' - telling him that's who he really is, and despite receiving treatment from what he calls 'the Shrinkage', he insists he's an ordinary private citizen. and doesn't regard his 'family' - wife (the Politician), grandson (the Brat) and daughter (the young woman) - as anything other than busybodies.
To him, life is normal, and everyone else is acting bizarre. That is everyone except Boris the neighbour's cat with whom he forms a special bond and elderly local resident, Mrs Hand.
Things begin to change when the Colonel accidentally discovers a large sum of money hidden in the Politician's outdoor toilet. Taking it, he waits to see what happens. While this plays out, he realises he can never be truly 'ordinary' and sets a plan in motion to establish a new identity. When things do not work out as planned, he makes an irreversible decision.
Proud and vulnerable, calculating and naïve, haughty and self-deprecating, mischievous and serious, combative and empathetic, flawed hero Dominic Corley is a unique character.
