Beskrivelse
The animal farm story is an allegorical novella written by George Orwell, first published in England on 17 August 1945 - to reflect events leading up to the Russian Revolution in 1917 and then into the Stalinist totalitarian autocracy era of the Soviet Union built upon a cult of Stalinist personality. It was written as a satirical tale about Stalinist regime. For this new book, entitled 'The Chronicles of the Animal Farm, Part II - Democracy in Crisis', it is also written as a satirical tale about an administration, built upon a cult of a 'stable genius' personality that almost destroys the sanctity of democracy in a modern democratic country. In the original animal farm story, Napoleon actively rewrite history to mislead and confuse the animals so as to convince the animals that certain things never happened or that they are mistaken about something. He rules the farm with an iron fist by adopting the 'Big Lie' theory in concocting falsehoods, fake news and lies to deceive the animals so that the pigs remain in power to control the animals to do their biddings. Now, after more than 75 years, the same 'Big Lie' theory of political gaslighting through falsehoods, fake news, lies, and the attempt to rewrite history, recurs. However, this time it happens not in a totalitarian autocratic regime, but surprisingly from the most unexpected and the most democratic country in the world. It is a story about how leaders and not the systems - could raise or ruin a country.
