Beskrivelse
Currently finalizing an economic catch-up like no other country in history, China is becoming central to the world's progress. Yet Chinese people know us much more than we know them. Our culture often retains long-lasting preconceived ideas in the extreme negative as well as in the blissful positive. As a westerner with an intense exposure to Chinese culture, I realized the extent of these prejudices against China, although it is a central civilization in human History just as much as ours. The purpose of this book is to provide a more objective vision of China and Chinese people through the response to the most common prejudices, as suggested by a deliberately provocative title. It's an essay at the frontier between political and social reflection, derision and questioning, practical advice, collection of experiences, sharing of hope: this book is as paradoxical as China and tries to imagine what would or should be the place of this country in the future world that is being sketched under our very eyes. "Whether you are a student, a businessman working with China or just curious and tired of hearing the same speeches, let's embark together on this story. It is worth the journey."
