Beskrivelse
"The Candy House" by Jennifer Egan is a brilliant, imaginative, and deeply moving story about a world where authenticity and privacy is hard to find after a technological breakthrough makes it possible to share your memories with others.
Bix Bouton is a tech expert with a brilliant mind, who is desperate to find the next great idea to bring him success. Restless and disenchanted with life as a father of four, he finds the answer to his prayers, when a chance conversation with a Columbia professor opens up a completely new avenue of business for him. The professor has found a way to download memories and with his help Bix succeeds in developing a new technology called "Own Your Unconscious". It is now completely possible to access and view your own memories, but if you wish to view someone else's, you have to upload your own.
Through the eyes of a variety of characters with interlinked narratives, Jennifer Egan examines the possibilities and consequences of a world where "Own Your Unconscious" exists.
"The Candy House" is written by Jennifer Egan, an acclaimed American novelist and writer, whose modern-day classic "A Visit From the Goon Squad" received the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 2011.
