The Bryant Family is a modern day family whose hobby is solving mysteries. The family links with the sheriff's office and other government agencies in the hunt for a murderer in Death and Gold in Zara Zote. At the same time they stumble on a 300 year old mystery that launches them on the hunt for buried treasure. The family lives in a Key West-style home in an exclusive neighborhood on an island near Sarasota, Florida. Smart and talented in many water sports is the oldest daughter, Nikki. She's in her last year of college. Shelli goes to Sarasota High and loves dance and kung fu. The mother, Danielle, is heavily involved in Sarasota's art scene. And the father, Rick, is an entrepreneur and scientist. Rick owns a high-tech firm, which designs, builds, and improves hi-tech gadgets of all types. The talents of the family and the use of technology are prominent in the intertwined storylines. The story is action packed and has unexpected twists that keeps the reader guessing. This book also has a parallel storyline that takes place hundreds of years ago. This story, which includes accurate depictions of pirates of the day, plays an important part in the current day storyline concerning the Bryant Family. This is a new type of sleuth, adventure novel that can be enjoyed by the whole family.
