An agreement that begun during the 2053 famine between the powerful Crow and Bluebird governments leads to the former children that were a part of it being on the run, either solo or with their adoptive parents when it expires and they are due to be sent back to their biological parents. Knowing nothing else but what it is like to live in the Bluebird Territory, Amethyst is on the run with her adoptive mom with the help of a close family friend. Unfortunately, checkpoints between Bluebird Stream and Arestomer further complicates things. All Amethyst wants is to end the unrelenting pain she had since she was a teenager and have a normal life. Meanwhile, her friends who've decided to fight back through grassroots efforts, are using everything in their power to rise against the Crow government and TerraTech who use everything in their arsenal thwart student protesters. Will Amethyst and her friends win their freedom, or will they be further caught up in the system they seek to dismantle?
