"You honestly think that's what she wants?" he asked, his frown deepening as his eyes narrowed with skepticism. "Dinner and a movie? But, that's so cliché."

"You're right. It is," she acknowledged with a chuckle. "But that's the 'normal stuff' couples do. That's what Gavin and I do when we ..."

"Okay, now I know you're fucking with me," he cut her off. "You're this mega movie star, and your man takes you out for dinner and a movie?"

"Yes, he does," she assured him with a laugh. "Because he knows that's what I like. Or we'll go bowling, or play mini-golf. A couple months ago, we signed up for a one-day cooking course and we learned to make sushi. Unfortunately, we also learned that your brother sucks at making sushi. But it was still fun. And, last Friday, he left work early and brought us take-out, and we spent the entire evening in bed ..."

"Do not finish that sentence," he cut her off once again with a crisp wave of dismissal.

"Watching cartoons," she completed it anyways, her grin widening by an inch as she rolled her eyes at him in mock-despair.

"Oh," he murmured as his breath tumbled out of him on an exaggerated sigh of relief.

"Idiot," she snorted at him. "But, seriously," she went on, her smile fading a fraction as her tone took on a somber note, "sometimes, a woman just wants to spend some time with the man she loves. And, we don't need you trying to impress us by taking us to an expensive restaurant, or flying us off to some exotic Caribbean island. We just want that one-on-one time to bond with you guys, so we feel closer to you. And, if you ask me, it sounds like that's what Rebecca was asking for. Just to spend some time with you so you guys can bond as a couple."

"Huh."

The low grunt still held obvious traces of his doubt, and he made a conscious decision not to focus on the part about 'the man she loves' for fear of getting his hopes up prematurely. But, his conversation with Angel stuck with him for the remainder of the day, and by five o'clock, he had formulated a plan. Of sorts.
