How old is the earth? Many Christians believe that they must look to science, or rather the opinions of scientists, to answer this question. Yet, if ethical issues arise, on which they do not like the opinions of modern scientists, they are prepared to reject such opinions. Paul Taylor shows that the question of the age of the Earth is not, in fact, a scientific question at all. It is a question of biblical authority, because, once it is examined dispassionately, we notice that the Bible gives a very clear answer to the question. The only issues remaining for Christians, when confronted with differing views on the age of the Earth, is these: Do we accept the authority of the Bible, or not? And if we do not, then why not, and what are the implications of a rejection of biblical authority on this issue? In this short book, Paul Taylor's starting point is that the Bible's chronology is authoritative.
