Beskrivelse
We all have aspirations and dreams for our children. Sometimes these expectations begin during our own childhoods as we dream about becoming parents. Sometimes the hopes and dreams do not begin until we look into the eyes of our newborn. No matter when the dream begins, no one dreams of autism. The diagnosis is a sucker punch that leaves parents reeling and confused. Life quickly becomes complicated with all kinds of well-meant advice from professionals, family and strangers which include everything from medication to diet to the latest therapy. This chapter does not offer advice on medicines, diets or therapies. The intention of this chapter is to uplift and inspire you. Regardless of where a child is on the autism spectrum, with patience and an understanding of what makes your child tick, success is attainable. The snapshots in, One Step at a Time provide hope and guidance for educators and parents alike.
