Beskrivelse

Ollie the Ostrich is angry because he can't fly like other birds can, but if he is going to solve his problem he is going to have to learn how to collaborate. Ostriches have never been able to fly. Most ostriches have accepted it. Not Ollie. He won't give up on his dream. But, until he finally stops being mad and starts asking for help, his plans keep backfiring. This book is based on psychology research about successful communication. Out of four basic communication styles, Collaboration is the most successful. The other styles are Avoidant, Accommodative, and Competitive. Collaboration is when people work as a team to solve a problem instead of avoiding the problem, acting like they "don't care," or trying only to get their way. This is a story about how an ostrich finally flew when he learned how to collaborate. Ollie hopes that his story helps kids learn about collaborating early on, so they can get what they want most in life too. He also hopes his story helps parents start a dialogue with their kids about better communication strategies so that they never feel like they have to put their head in the sand like he did. Psyched Books publishes children's books that teach positive psychology through stories. 10% of profits are donated to early childhood education programs.
