Beskrivelse
The books in this series tell the story of ten children, all five years old, who are culturally diverse, and wonderfully bonded in friendship. They are found on a mysterious island, shaped like the palm of your left hand. In each book the children explore a different part of the island, which represents a different part of the world, with its unique wildlife. However, throughout the adventure they run into some fantasy and mythical creatures -- some good and some not so good.
The books are intended to be read to non-readers, but they are so captivating, that they appeal to young readers as well. The books are designed to be as much fun to read as to listen to, with appealing story line, rhyming cadence and songs.
In Book 9, Middle Peninsula South, the children specifically explore the wonders of the Galapagos Islands. They meet some unique animals normally found there. The Galapagos Islands straddle the equator and are situated in the Pacific Ocean about 1,000 km or 600 miles west of Ecuador in South America. How some of these unique animals migrated to Left-Hand Island is still a mystery. However, this peaceful place may present a potential problem.
