"The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian" is Sherman Alexie’s award-winning and also controversial illustrated novel about a young boy’s life in an Indian reservation.
Sherman Alexie’s "The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian" is told from the perspective of the Native American teenager, Arnold Spirit Jr, who is 14 years old and a gifted cartoonist. We follow his life on the Spokane Indian Reservation in Washington and in his white public high school away from his Indian community.
Sherman Alexie's won the 2007 National Book Award for Young People's Literature for "The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian" that however also gained a lot of negative critic for its depiction of alcohol, poverty and profanity.
