Beskrivelse
The October 1995 Presidential and Parliamentary elections in Tanzania marked an important milestone in the country's transition to multi- party democracy. It brought to an end the intense debates during the preparation for the elections. The Tanzania Election Monitoring Committee was the main national monitoring group that followed the entire process nationally. This is their report, offering a rich descriptive analysis of the important stages in the electoral process. These include legislation, formation of political parties, registration of voters, nomination of candidates, campaigns, the administration of the elections, voting, vote counting and declaration of results. The report includes an evaluation of the freeness and fairness of the elections, and a selected list of important documents.
