Tears Upon the Rose

Tears Upon the Rose is a story about 17th century Ireland. It is the tale of 18 year-old Robert DeLacey and 16 year-old Mary Margaret O'Carroll, who love despite the religious and cultural chasms that separate them. Robert contends with Cormac O'Brien, an Irish chieftain who, during Ireland's rebellion against England, rises to lead the defense of Drogheda against Oliver Cromwell's invading forces. Both men love the beautiful Mary Margaret, a renowned harpist and chieftain's daughter. She can choose only one. Tears Upon the Rose takes the reader to a land of mystery, to the ancient isle of the Eireannach, to Ireland before it was utterly transformed.
