Beskrivelse
Located on the Kaipara Harbour in New Zealand, 45 km north of Auckland, Te Tuhirangi Contour is one of Richard Serra's largest site-specific works. The site is a vast open grass pasture with rolling hills and the fall and rise of the land establishes curvilinear contours. The sculpture is located on one continuous contour, at a length of 257m (843'2"). The particular contour was chosen for its location, differentiation, contraction and expansion in relation to the volume of the landscape. The elevation of the sculpture is perpendicular to the fall of the land and thereby generates its lean of 11 degrees. This book thoroughly documents Richard Serra's impressive sculpture in Dirk Reinartz's elegant black-and-white photography.
