Syzygy

It's the year 8326, peace is upon the Earth and men have reached the farthest stars. One such man is the Privateer Roen Lasaro, Captain of the starship Cyclone Ranger. He has taken on a new mission to pick up a mysterious object left behind during a botched salvage operation on a distant, decaying world. The object once recovered turns out to possess a strange magnetic attraction that the crew find irresistible. Although reluctant to let such a treasure go the Captain remains true to his word and delivers the object as promised, unfortunately the agents of his clients, whom he is to deliver it to, turn out to be the Ssi, a militaristic lizard like race who attempt to cheat him out of his well earned pay. You see, humans, as the newcomers on the block, just don't get the respect they deserve. In fact bipedal intelligent species are a rarity. The six legged insectoid is the norm. Bugs basically rule most of the galaxy and the Xenix, big beautiful bugs with powerful psychic abilities, have been the dominate species for millennia and they're not about to let that change. Worms they call us. As the human expansion begins to put pressure on the insectoidal hegemony an alignment of planets is coincidentally taking place in the home system of the Xenix. The Syzygy, which happens every twenty thousand years, is the impetus that starts the great molt which changes the bugs and sends them on galactic jihad. War is brewing and the Captain can't help but to fall right into the middle of it all.
