The Shockoe Slip Gang is at it again! In another action-packed adventure, Sally and Andrew are visiting their Cousin Anne's farm on the edge of Virginia's wild and beautiful Great Dismal Swamp. The siblings plan to camp out with their friend Robin, who lives in the Swamp and who knows the huge wilderness like the back of his hand. Rumors of an enormous ghost in the Swamp have had the area in a turmoil, but only Robin knows what the 'ghost' really is: a beautiful, red gold horse. When the kids hear the Game Warden is organizing a search, they set out to find the creature on their own They paddle deeper and deeper into the Swamp, entranced by what they see - animals, birds, huge trees, dark waters - ignoring Cousin Anne's orders not to venture so far into a place largely unexplored since George Washington's time.
