This work was written to provide a basic introduction to Substance Use Disorders and Alcohol. As MSW's our CSWE accredited programs lack a robust training set in Substance Use issues. Most of your training in substance use will come at the postgraduate level. You will be, or have been, amazed at the number of your clients who are substance involved. This work is designed to help you overcome that knowledge/skills gap. This may be your first introduction to substance use treatment, but it should certainly not be your last. Explore, read and participate in treatment. You will be amazed at the number of other professionals in the field, which will be happy to share their training, education and professional experience with you. Above all, never be afraid to ask for help or more information. It is combined with a post-test that can be accessed at www.mymsw.info and can be used to earn 9 CEU's for continuing education as an LCSW in any jurisdiction which allows distance education and accepts the credentialing in Florida.
