Beskrivelse
The Epistle to the Hebrews is fundamental reading for all Christians. In it the author gives a rich exposition of the superiority of Christ. Certainly all those who aim to grow more and more in the knowledge of the Word of God should read this letter.
Who would exchange a shiny new car for an old and rusty one, or a shiny diamond ring for a piece of silver jewelry? Only a foolish person would make deals like that! The book of Hebrews was written for people who were in danger of making just such an exchange. They were Christians thinking of leaving their relationship with Christ to go back to living under the Law of Moses. The writer of Hebrews was determined to show his readers what a foolish choice that would be!
The author of Hebrews did not identify himself by name in the book. He knew Timothy (13:23) and had a solid understanding of the Old Testament. Many Bible students believe that it was Paul who wrote "Hebrews," but others argue that this author was not one of the apostles (see 2:3). Probably the most we can conclude with certainty is that the author was inspired.
