Rural community members fight to be assigned guardian of teenage female schizophrenic so they can receive the governmental disability checks while providing no service to Alexandria. Alexandria lives in a cemetery outhouse near her high school. Her grandmother takes out an insurance policy and encourages Alexandria to commit suicide. Simon, her best friend and shard, provides guidance in avoiding snares.
