Driving down the crooked road to the coastal town of Esper wasn't on Lisa's bucket list, but here she was, just a few miles from the place that had killed her parents. A literally ironic lifeline. A job she needed and grandparents that needed her. As conflicted as she felt there was no way she could know how much she was going to regret every mile behind her. Hundreds of miles away, on a bus that had started its journey in Eugene, Jack believed he would rather die than return home to Esper. It was death that had drawn him along the way, that and the nightmares that he wanted to end. The suicide of a girl that he hadn't seen in years had completely derailed him and he desperately wanted to know why. Both will find answers, but not the ones they suspect as a town of secrets fights to keep them buried.
