Everyone has heard of St George and the Dragon, but could there be some history coded into his legend? This comic illustrates the legend in parallel with the story of a Roman legionary who was persecuted for his Christian faith. The dragon is presented as an allegory for the last and worst persecution around 300AD, while the victory is that of Constantine, who was the first emperor to be baptized.Readers aged 12 and up are invited to catch the enthusiasm that led so many people from medieval crusaders to countries as disparate as Russia, England or Brazil to revere a soldier who was a harbinger of a new settlement between Church and state.
