It only takes a split second to forever change lives. Sometimes that change can be tragic, as is the case in this story. The story is not meant to take a stand on a controversial issue. Rather it is to be used to remind people that it is what is done minutes, hours, even days before a tragedy that can prevent it from happening in the first place.
