Mariah tells a true story about her experience with entering the corridors of the Minnesota family court system in 1988. She had three children to protect while divorcing her sociopathic husband. She discovers that there is no justice, only revictimization, for battered women and children in the family court system. Her battle against a goliath of lies, perjury, exploitation, abuse, and alcoholic court officials reveals corruption. Mariah discovers a "family court crisis" which is the best kept secret in the family court system and the media. She concludes that the "scales of justice" are, in reality, a broken system filled with dysfunction, ignorance, sexism, big business and white collar crime. Mariah shares her inner psychological and spiritual journey, and how she used holistic healthcare, to survive and transcend violent, misogynistic attitudes toward women. She brings accountability to a legal system that is impotent to protect defenseless, young children from a batterer's relentless and assaultive behaviors. Transcending the violence of a patriarchy, she shares hope for men, women, and children who want to break the spell of violence in order to create relationships based in peace, health, and compassion. She is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Minnesota who currently works to assist children and their families with mental health, holistic healthcare, and trauma recovery.
