Soup Joumou!

This book is an excellent resource to introduce a cultural or heritage unit. It is an adaptable book with pictures and words provided! The story can be used both at home and school. Children will become familiar with a Haitian tradition. They will be familiarized with various vegetables, and follow recipes to make the soup as well as dumplings. They will develop object, vocabulary, sequences and cooking skills. The story encourages children to work together and to learn about the culture and heritage of others.
