Jesus of Nazareth arrived in Jerusalem to great excitement. The crowd laid palm branches at his feet and shouted, "Hosanna " Yet the Son of Man knew that this celebration was to be short-lived, for he had not come to the city to continue his teachings. Jesus was there to finish the taskGod had laid before him. Pontius Pilate, Roman Governor of Jerusalem, watched carefully during the week as Jesus grew increasingly bold in his dealings with the local Pharisee priests who were corrupt and jealous.Eventually, tensions boiled over as the Pharisees convinced the people that Jesus was not to be trusted. Riots threatened to break out across the whole city, and the stability Pilate had worked sohard to maintain was on the verge of collapse.Jesus and Pilate were forced to decide whether to stand together against the Pharisees or else one of them would be forced to sacrifice everything.
