Olaf Deinert examines the social protection of small sized self-employed persons who have not engaged any employees (solo self-employed). He does not only focus on persons with employee-like status but also on any other civil law regulation. This protection is compared with the social protection of employees. He focuses also on new phenomena like crowd working. At the end a new definition of persons with employee-like status, which could be realised also by jurisdiction, is proposed in order to find an optimum sized social protection for economically dependent persons.
