I'm still James Walden, robotics engineer, once dead then revived by an infusion of nanobugs. Dan, my younger brother, was deemed intellectually deficient on New Earth. In our new home on planet Tavius, he's about to receive his music degree from the Sheffield Space Academy.

As "special agents" to the Usuloth Alliance, my brother and I are aiding the transfer of ancient, invaluable archives to the new Sofia cultural center on the spaceship city Miranda.

That should be an easy, safe mission, right?
