This book is the compilation of the world literature on diseases of pigeonpea, an important pulse crop of the Indian subcontinent, Africa, Australia and South America. The compilation has been made from various research journals, research reports, magazines, periodicals, bulletins, etc. The content of the book is presented in 10 chapters namely - Introduction, Fungal diseases of root and stem, Fungal diseases of foliage, Diseases caused by bacteria, Diseases caused by viruses, mycoplasmas and viroids, Diseases caused by nematodes, Microbes in ecology of pigeonpea, Abiotic stresses, Phanerogamic parasites and Integrated disease management. Each disease has been dealt under suitable heading like Introduction, Nature and extent of damage, Symptoms, Causal organisms/agents, Host parasite interaction, Disease cycle and epidemiology, Host resistance and Control.The information has been well illustrated with coloured photographs and the research data wherever required. Information on research methodologies for concern diseases have also been included. The chapter on Abiotic stresses and Integrated disease management are of special interest for readers. The book has the advantage of long experience of the author in research in the subject. This is the reference book of its own kind not published so far.
