Beskrivelse

He has written "Smoke Signals & Wagon Tracks" and offers a good description of the local Indians that lived here. The book tells the story of the expansion by the white people into Indian Territory for settlement. Lewis & Clark contacted the Amerindians in the Snake River Region. Marie Dorian, with the Hunt Party ate "puppy meat" outside of Eagle. The Hudson's Bay Company arrived to trap beaver and trade with the Indians, building Fort Boise, Fort Hall, other forts. Mountain men trapped beaver marrying Indian women. Wagon trains rolled west on the Oregon Trail. Gold miners arrived by the thousands. Stage coaches carried passengers, gold, mail and stopped at "Old Fort Boise" on the Snake River. Struggles arose and the Indians went on the warpath attacking the wagons and miners. Settlement forts were built. The cavalry was called in to protect the citizens and fight the Indians. Fort Boise military post and the town of Boise (Boise City) were established. As one Indian War was put down, another rose up. The Indians lost to the white man. Finally, the Amerindians were forced onto Federal reservation
