Slave of the Idolmaker

EVERYONE HAS SOMETHING THEY CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT. Jensen Everlee knows this. He knows it because his life seems to be missing something that everyone else has -- no matter how hard he tries to keep up... and it isn't just the asthma slowing him down. Playing the part of caretaker for his despondent mother, role model for his siblings, and de facto head of household is enough to turn the average high school slog into a daily nightmare.

The new kid at school is clearly missing something too. Though Jensen is willing to cautiously befriend him, Ryker's odd behavior and tendency to avoid answering questions makes Jensen wonder if it's simple neuroses or a sign of something darker and more dangerous than Jensen believes is possible. The closer Jensen gets to his strange new acquaintance, the more he must disbelieve his eyes... or believe Ryker.
