Thiswasaccomplishedbyexploring allknownofficial existingrecords in the NationalMilitaryArchives, whichhave been quoted freelyand very often verbatimtogive atruthfulview of events as they existed atthat particular time.Throughout theyears,theoriginalrecordsofthe 7thCavalryRegiment havesufferedfrom many disasters. On March30,1952,a firedestroyed the regimental headquarters in Japan,and everything wasburnedexceptthe regimental colors.Tofurther complicatethe matter, but tocomplywithorders,manyvaluablerecordsweredestroyed toaccomplish whatthey thoughtwascleaningoutuseless files. What thisactually caused or createdwas theexistence ofincompleteand often inaccuraterecords.Perhaps this bookwillhavean eye-opening effect forthe readerand will stir memoriesand answerquestions thatstillprevail or persist.
