Beskrivelse
The book first covers basic knowledge about the casting process, what are its stages and what are the defects that the process can imprint to the cast material. Next, details about the constituents of a feeding system are discussed and then it is discussed how the sizing of a feeding system is performed through 3 fundamental criteria: thermal criterion, volumetric criterion and feeding distance. It is also commented the importance of the use of cooling and the knowledge about the segregation zone. Later the book calculates and presents two different feeding systems for the same part (pulley), the two feeding systems were designed and compared. One feeding system has the presence of coolers and or other does not. With the two designed feeding systems the same ones were overlapped in a single project. With the new project was made the mold of the part and the metal casting. It was evaluated the presence and the number of defects for the region with and without coolers. The results showed that in the region with coolers there was a reduction in the number of defects as well as an increase in the metal yield.
